My name is Mike Pahmeier and I've been doing home repair/improvements as Around the House since 2000. I try to stick with smaller jobs that allow me to be available at fairly short notice. Changing a light fixture, adjusting a door latch, fixing a broken window, these are all jobs that I gladly do. Many of my customers pull out a list of several small things that they just never get around to doing. Bigger jobs are not out of the question, but I only accept what I know I can do well. My primary customer base is on the east side of madison, however, I do have customers in other areas of town and I am happy to consider all jobs.
Below is a good idea of what I offer, but feel free to contact me about anything that I do not mention.
My business is insured and I can provide excellent references at any time.
What I do:
- Light carpentry, including rotten/broken wood repair/replacement, build shelving, custom garden trellises, small custom fencing/privacy screens
- Storm doors, storm windows
- Doorknob and lock installation
- Caulking
- Light fixtures
- Garbage disposal repair
- Repair broken windows & screens
- Sash weight & rope repair, some wood window repair
- Dryer venting
- Gas appliance hook-up
- Rain gutter cleaning
- Basement glass-block windows
- Bi/tri fold door repair
- Furniture assembly
- Furniture repair (wood only, no laminates or upholstery)
- Assist in cleaning out garages/attics/basements, moving heavy things around
What I might do:
- Plumbing: I can usually fix a leaky faucet, replace anything in a toilet tank, replace a hose faucet or a shower head. Some older faucets, especially shower faucets, I won't do. I won't work on pedestal sinks. I do not do anything beyond the above.
- Appliance removal to your curb: Priced depending on the job. Something small (dehumidifier, etc.) that I can do myself will obviously be cheaper than larger appliances. You will need to purchase a sticker for pick up. I can provide a sticker.
- Painting: I am not a professional painter and do not do entire rooms or complete exteriors. If you have a small area or a touch up, I'll be glad to consider them.
- Yard work: Limited to light tree trimming, mulch, small mowing jobs.
What I don't do:
- Roofing/siding
- Drywall/plaster
- Install rain gutters
- Flooring/carpeting
- Install primary doors and windows
- Countertops/cabinets
- Drop ceilings
Don't see your job on this list? Please call or e-mail me.
Wood shop services:
This is something new I'm offering. If you are doing a project yourself and need wood cut to specific sizes or shapes, but don't have the tools, I can do it for you. I can also re-create or copy many things made of wood, such as bed rails, drawer rails, shelves, wood trim, etc.
A limitation on this service would be anything round (no lathe work) or carved.
Prices:
As of October 1 2008 my rate will be $40/hr. plus sales tax. I do not mark up materials I buy, I just charge for the time spent getting them.
Storm door installations are $95 + tax.
Rain gutter cleaning is priced per job starting at $65 + tax
Wood shop services are $40/hr. plus tax
I accept cash and checks only.
Estimates:
Some jobs I can give estimates for, such as gutter cleaning, light fixtures, doorknobs/locks, etc, and some I do not give estimates for, such as repairing rotten wood.
